Echizen Ryoma, a tennis prodigy from America, recently moves back to Japan with his family. He joins the Seishun Gakuen Middle School tennis team, a team and school that his father had previously attended, which is known for being one of the best teams in Japan. Ryoma has won four straight American junior tournaments and that just reinforces the fact taht he is considered a prodigy. After joining, he finds that freshman aren’t allowed to play till after summer, but he challenges this and eventually becomes a regular of the team. Now he must journey on with the rest of the Seishun Gakuen (Seigaku for short) Tennis Team as they battle towards and through the National Tournament.
